Ionic Bonding

Each atom in a stable compound must fulfill the the octet rule, meaning that it has a total of eight valence electrons. The only elements that naturally satisfy the octet rule are the inert, or noble gasses (helium, neon, radon, etc.). Atoms (or ions) combine to mutually fulfill the rule.

To make a long story short, it's a chemistry pun-- and a musicals pun, all for the price of one!
